Our History

The Lake Area Recovery Center (LARC) has been serving the Ashtabula County community since 1967. Originally named the Ashtabula Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (CADA), LARC has grown to become a leading provider of various addiction recovery services. These include intensive outpatient programs, drug court treatment programs, residential treatment centers, and drug and alcohol screening. We accept women from all over the country who are seeking long-term residential treatment for a substance use disorder.

Our Mission & Values

We believe that anyone can have a productive, healthy life after developing a substance use disorder. Abstinence is the goal in recovery from addiction. We understand that addiction recovery is a process and work with each client to provide individualized treatment goals and outcomes. Lake Area Recovery Center focuses on providing appropriate, evidence-based therapies to the people we serve.

We believe that we have a unique opportunity to positively influence treatment outcomes of individuals involved in the criminal justice system. Through our specialty drug court treatment programs, we help improve their lives as well as the health and well-being of our entire community.

We believe that financial hardship should not be a barrier to someone seeking help in overcoming a substance use disorder. We are committed to offering successful, affordable, and accessible addiction recovery programs to our clients, regardless of their ability to pay for treatment. Since the majority of our clients are unemployed, under-employed and uninsured, and/or medically needy, we receive funding assistance provided directly or indirectly by the following sources:
