The Lake Area Recovery Center (LARC) is a private, non-profit tax exempt corporation that provides addiction recovery services to residents of Ashtabula County, Ohio. Our agency was established in 1967 to treat alcohol use disorder. In 1972, we broadened our scope to include treatment for other substance use disorders. At that time, our agency was named the Ashtabula County Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, better known as CADA. In 1985, our name was changed to Lake Area Recovery Center (LARC).
LARC has grown to become a leading provider of various addiction recovery services. These include intensive outpatient programs, drug court treatment programs, residential treatment centers, and drug and alcohol screening. We accept pregnant and nursing women from all over the country who are seeking long-term residential treatment for a substance use disorder.
We believe that anyone can have a productive, healthy life after developing a substance use disorder. Substance use problems are not insurmountable and can be successfully treated when our clients are well-informed. Abstinence is the goal in recovery from addiction. We understand that addiction recovery is a challenging process and we work with each client to provide individualized treatment. Lake Area Recovery Center focuses on providing appropriate, evidence-based therapies to the people we serve.
We believe that we have a unique opportunity to positively influence treatment outcomes of individuals involved in the criminal justice system. Through our specialty drug court treatment programs, we help improve their lives as well as the health and well-being of our entire community.
We believe that financial hardship should not be a barrier to someone seeking help in overcoming a substance use disorder. We are committed to offering affordable and accessible addiction recovery programs to our clients, regardless of their ability to pay for treatment. We operate on a sliding fee scale based on monthly income, and in many instances arrangements can be made for payment by third-party sources (i.e. insurance, Medicaid, etc.) Since the majority of our clients are unemployed, under-employed and uninsured, and/or medically in need, we receive funding assistance from the following sources:
