The Challenge

As they strive for healthier minds, bodies, and lifestyles, individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs) need support and treatment now more than ever. It seems that every year, the nationwide drug epidemic becomes ever more local, claiming increasing numbers of lives right here in Ashtabula County. Unintentional overdoses rob families and the community, and the vast majority of these deaths are caused by overdoses of the potent synthetic drugs fentanyl and methamphetamine. The situation can feel hopeless, but at Lake Area Recovery Center we’ve proven that there is a way out from under addiction.

How We’ve Made a Difference

For over 50 years, Lake Area Recovery Center has provided hope and healing for those struggling with an addiction to drugs and alcohol. Each year we treat many individuals–both with and without health insurance–helping members of our community to achieve and maintain sobriety. From pregnant and nursing women, to young adults, and specialty court participants, the demographics of the people we work with are varied, and each person is a unique individual. That’s why we offer a wide variety of treatment options, so that a person trying to overcome addiction has a real chance at recovery.

How You Can Make a Difference

The success of our addiction recovery centers depends much on support from you, our community. We are continuously striving to improve the quality and effectiveness of our substance use disorder treatment services. When you choose to donate to Lake Area Recovery Center, your funds go to support the following critical needs:

  • Educational literature: Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and other recovery literature is provided for residents to assist with their recovery and expand their knowledge about the program they select.
  • Repairs and Updates: Improvements to make structures and surrounding properties safe and easy to access for residents, visitors, and transportation providers.
  • Basic Needs: Emergency food items are often provided for residents to reduce hurdles to their successful treatment and recovery.
  • Personal Items: Intimate clothing items and personal care products, including feminine hygiene products, are often not available from other community resources. Donations allow us to supply sober living residents with the items they need to live comfortably during their recovery.
  • Seasonal Items: In order to boost morale and make residents feel at home, seasonal holiday decorations are provided for them.

*** As of fall/winter 2023/2024, our most urgent need is funding to help repair the driveway at our Eubanks House, a sober living home. Needed repairs would make the property safer and more accessible for residents and visitors.
Ideally, we would like to be able to make these repairs by spring 2024. ***

How Does Your Donation Benefit Residents?

Imagine trying to recover from a serious illness without having your basic needs met and without having the comforts of home available to you–it would be difficult at best, impossible at worst. Substance Use Disorder (SUD) is an illness too. Donations that allow us to provide individuals with a more supportive environment can prevent barriers to their successful treatment. Residents can get a head start on recovery and have the opportunity to focus on treatment and doing the personal work that our programs require, instead of worrying about items they may need and not have access to. Your donations level the playing field and allow those seeking treatment for an SUD to get well, faster.
